The Manufacturing Process


Step 1: Plate Preparation

Electro-conductive plates are created directly from your approved design. These plates are then meticulously prepared for the electroplating process.

Step 2: The Electroforming Process

The prepared plates are placed into a solution of electrically charged nickel particles. Over time these nickel particles slowly deposit onto the plates to form a solid sheet of badges.

Step 3: Separation & Die-Cutting

Once complete, the plates are removed from the solution and separated. This leaves a solid sheet of badges ready for post-mould processing. The individual badges are then precisely die-cut from the sheets.

Step 4: Multi-Layered Finishing

Each customer’s specific badge is made up of carefully constructed layers. We apply the chosen plated coating alongside a decorative foil finish to achieve the desired visual impact before adding the final adhesive layer.

How exactly does electroforming work?

Electroforming is a highly accurate technique that uses an electrically charged solution. Electro-conductive plates are placed into a bath of charged nickel particles. These particles slowly deposit onto the plates to form a solid, highly detailed sheet of badges.

We offer premium coatings including chrome, gold and dark plated finishes. We can also incorporate a decorative foil finish, exact colour matching, diamond cutting and striking iridescence for enhanced detail.

Because the process relies on the gradual deposit of nickel particles, the core electroforming stage can take up to six hours per production run to ensure absolute precision and quality.
