Branding on the Debut Product Line, The Artist Series

When you’re building a luxury guitar amp good enough to be used by well known musicians including James Bay, The Maccabees’ Hugo White and London Grammar’s Dan Rothman, every minute element of the product design has to be perfect. That’s why Hamstead Soundworks came to Diametric for the all-important branding on its debut product line, The Artist Series. Having created the blueprint for this breathtaking new guitar amp, Hamstead Soundworks needed to put the essential finishes touches to it in the form of the logo badge.

The Challenge

James Hamstead said: “The logo badge was so important to us because it bore the name of our brand. It needed to be impeccable in terms of quality, readability and feel.”

Bearing in mind that the amps would be used for years and years, carried through live music venues and transported to and from gigs, the badge needed to be tough as well as beautiful.

Our Approach

Diametric’s audio specialist team, which has worked on projects for the likes of Naim, Funktion One and Flare Audio, presented Hamstead Soundworks’ design team with the best manufacturing process to create the badge with this in mind.

They recommended a die cast aluminium badge, with diamond cut wording. Due to the heaviness of the badge Diametric recommended a slightly stronger adhesive than usual to fix the badges to the product, specifying a 3M468 glue.

The Result

Anso Dietrichsen, project lead, said: “Our solution really covered all of the objectives requested on the brief. The die cast process allows us to replicate wording and logos in incredible detail. The fact that the badge consists of aluminium makes it heavy, giving it a feel of quality and luxury. We recommended a diamond cut finish to the text to help reflect the light when on stage, pulling focus to the brand.”

Peter Hamstead from Hamstead Soundworks, said: “We were very pleased when we discovered Diametric. They understood our needs and created a badge that other companies we had previously dealt with seemingly couldn’t deliver.”
